A Chevrolet Camaro hit the marked police car on the 3200 block of Friendship Street in Mayfair around 3:30 a.m., authorities said.

The police car sustained front-end damage and a broken front axle and had to be towed from the scene along with the Camaro, according to PPD. A suspect was arrested and an investigation is underway.

The injured officer was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital and "is expected to be treated and released," they added.
